Becoming What You Need: A Learning Community

Program Description

This year-long deep dive invites the development of Nonviolent Communication (NVC) as an art, a consciousness, and, in its fullness, a lifelong learning path for cultivating deeply connective relationships. At the heart of this course are simple yet deep personal practices for listening empathically through tough conversations, finding common ground and speaking your truth with power and compassion.

Personal practices that integrate physical, emotional, linguistic domains through meaningful practice attune us to the signals of our bodies and the present, direct, immediate experience of the life we are living. Such skills are essential for any of us who want to generate community and effect positive change—personal, social, environmental, political—at home or in the world.

- Robert Gonzales -

What we carry emotionally and physically is never far from all that we do, perceive, and express, both verbally and nonverbally.  A somatic approach to NVC trains across verbal and non verbal domains so we can learn and reconcile the inconsistencies that occur between our hearts and our lips, what we say and what we do. And practicing together accelerates such learning.
