The empathic, curious and open heart has always seemed natural to me. Discovering NVC and passing it on to others has immensely enriched my life.” Since Sabine recognized conflict as an invitation to learn more about others, restorative approaches have become an integral part of her teaching. I believe that in a connected world what is most important is the quality of our connection. I'm a Certified Trainer with the Center for Nonviolent Communication who offers communication and conflict resolution training. For 20 years I've explored ways to support deepening connection in and amongst individuals and communities. My experience includes workshop and retreat facilitation at conferences, camps, churches, and classrooms. I'm a former early childhood educator, who discovered NVC in 2007 while working in private schools in upstate New York, USA. I was struck at how beneficial this practice was in helping repair disconnection amongst disparate groups within the school system and I've pursued further practice of NVC with the intention of distributing this training more widely. At the heart of my practice of nonviolent communication is the question how do we want to live with one another? I enjoy exploring with communities ways to engage with that question. Through collaborative facilitation, while embodying the form of nonviolent communication, I try to support communities to invent and implement life-enriching whole systems, and practices for restorative justice.

I met NVC in 2001. While being a dancer and a choreographer, in 2008 I decided to stop all my artistic activities in order to have my time and energy fully be dedicated to teaching/living NVC. I teach regularly and nonstop Workshops as well as Year Long Courses nationally and internationally. My focus lies on the Embodiment part of NVC- on Radical Honesty/Radical Empathy. My whole being is focused on my relation to people, while my teaching navigates in the subtle delicacy of figuring out ‘what (the fuck) is going on between and within people’ moment by moment by moment.

I grew up in post-war Germany with guilt and shame about our history. NVC supported me to differentiate between guilt/shame and responsibility. It is out of this responsibility and being inspired by Marshall’s work that I chose to share NVC in regions of conflict like Israel/Palestine, Kenya, Ukraine and Somalia to support reconciliation and social change. It is important to me to contribute to a world where everybody’s needs matter, to get to know about the privileges I have and to be curious how I can use them in a collaborative way with people who have less access to resources.

NVC came to me unobtrusively. I ‘stumbled’ upon it in 2009, little imagining what a life-changing event that would be. Within a day of my first training and my encounter with the concept of Needs, I was hooked. Now, more than a decade later, I am excited to be part of a worldwide community, which holds the vision that every life matters, every voice must be heard, and that beyond our opinions and diversities, we can access our shared humanity and compassion. I see the potential of NVC, today more than ever, of helping us focus on what binds us rather than what scatters and separates us.

I am a CNVC certified trainer and assessor in the certification process of the CNVC. My current passion revolves around the 4 life themes: To be welcome - without having to do anything for it, to have a space for which I can also stand up, to be held in trust instead of having to control and be alive instead of fulfilling others' life dreams. My passion is to experiment with NVC outside the box, far away from the boundaries of words and language. Therefore I like to concentrate on intuition, empathic presence and body language. My social change project "Giraffe Dream" aims at introducing and spreading NVC in kindergartens and primary schools. This program has become the biggest social change project in this field. I live with Gundi, my wife, near Munich, Germany. Visit me on www.freiekommunikation.de

She enjoys working with multicultural groups and is interested in what is needed to create safety and trust between people across power differences. “I love creating spaces where the wisdom of the group can emerge. Jeyanthy Siva Sri Lanka/ Netherlands My work is rooted in principles of Nonviolent Communication as developed by Marshall Rosenberg, deepened through de-colonial lens and an understanding of domination systems and how they facilitate systemic oppression (i.e. white supremacy, ableism, transphobia, etc). Systems of domination display themselves in both visible and invisible ways. In some contexts, the invisible ways are most pernicious. Authentic living and transformative & compassionate communication becomes possible when these systems are made explicit. My current focus is facilitating & training groups to address issues of inclusion, equity, diversity as well as anti-racism training. When requested, I offer conflict mediation training and coaching as well as doing mediation & restorative circle dialogues to support individuals and groups to work through conflicts. For 20 plus years, I did training in Nonviolent Communication in different parts of the world (see below). I have skills in areas of conflict transformation and dialogue, restorative and transformative justice, facilitation (team retreats, project planning, caucus’), gender and social inclusion & community engagement.
